Itinerary
A great adventure through the forests and valleys of Argentine Patagonia, where we can observe the famous Fuegian peat bogs, beaver dams, rivers, and lakes. A magical hike – surrounded by the Andes Mountains – until we reach the beautiful Laguna Esmeralda.
We depart from Ushuaia on the beautiful Ruta 3 towards the starting point of the trail.
After receiving instructions from our guide about our 4.7 km trek, we enter a dense forest of Lenga trees, walking on spongy ground known as peat bogs. We follow along streams with unique colors. Soon, we encounter the beaver dams – dams built by beavers – which have a significant impact on the environment. Our guide will pause to tell us this story, as well as other characteristics of the region’s flora and fauna.
After 2 hours of hiking with rest stops, we arrive at the famous Laguna Esmeralda, fed by the imposing Ojo del Albino glacier – creating one of the most beautiful postcards of Argentine Patagonia. A truly magnificent landscape!
Taking advantage of this scenery, we’ll have our snack while listening to interesting facts about this region of rich nature and culture.
With renewed body and spirit, we begin our walk back.
An indescribably beautiful journey.
