Itinerary
The Tierra del Fuego National Park is the southernmost park on the planet and the only one in Argentina where mountains, forests, and sea combine.
It’s a must-visit attraction for those who want to connect with the breathtaking nature of the end of the world and learn about the region’s history.
We’ll depart from the hotel heading to Tierra del Fuego National Park.
During the journey, an experienced guide tells us about the region’s peculiarities, history, wildlife, flora, and geography.
Our first stop is just before the park entrance at the Fin del Mundo station. Here, those interested in taking the train ride can purchase tickets. Onboard the train, besides enjoying the scenery, you’ll learn about the history of this railway that transported prisoners from Ushuaia’s prison to the slopes of Mount Susana. The train ride lasts approximately 1 hour.
For those who prefer not to take the train, you can take a short walk or enjoy the charming station while listening to the railway’s history narrated by our guide.
Upon returning from the train ride with the whole group, we begin our tour of the park – a 30km route with specific stops for sightseeing.
Our next stop is Lake Roca, also known as Acigami. Here, we can admire part of the Chilean mountain range and soak in the beauty of the lake and forest, as well as take a lakeside walk.
Continuing our journey on the dirt road, we observe beautiful landscapes until we reach the park’s restaurant, which offers delicious pies, coffee, drinks, and a beautiful view. It also houses the Alakush Indigenous Interpretation Museum.
We then return to the road and head to one of the park’s most special places, the famous Bahia Lapataia. Upon arrival, a signboard displays interesting facts about the area, such as being the southernmost end of the world’s southernmost road, Route 3. It’s a great place to literally feel at the “End of the World.” A short walk leads us to a deck where the best view of the bay can be enjoyed.
In the park, you’ll also find the famous “End of the World Post Office,” where you can stamp your passport and send a postcard from the southernmost reaches of South America.
The post office is closed from 15/05 to 15/10 and is usually inaccessible to vehicles. When accessible, we also make a stop here.
After this beautiful tour, we’ll return to Ushuaia.
