Itinerary
A beautiful tour appreciating sea lions, local birds, and the majestic Andes Mountains – which, alongside the sea, provides an even more stunning view.
This is a tour that gives us a beautiful view of what we call the ‘End of the World,’ where the only thing further south is the Antarctic ice.
We embark from the tourist port of the Beagle Channel. The channel is cut in the middle by an imaginary line that divides Argentina and Chile. Therefore, we navigate through Argentine waters but also admire the mountains and islands on the Chilean side of the channel.
Right at the beginning of the navigation, we can already enjoy the beautiful ‘Bahía Ushuaia’ and observe the privileged position of the city, surrounded by magnificent mountains and glaciers.
This view, besides being beautiful, also instigates us to learn about the history of Ushuaia. While contemplating the landscape, it’s possible to imagine the moment when European boats arrived in the region and spotted the various fire points that the natives used to keep warm. That’s why it’s called Tierra Del Fuego (Land of Fire).
On the way, we pass by Bird Island, where we admire various Fuegian seabirds, such as skuas, albatrosses, seagulls, cormorants, and ducks.
We arrive at the famous Sea Lion Island, which houses two types of sea lions. Along with them, it’s possible to spot cormorants, which are often confused with penguins.
Sailing a little further, we reach the iconic Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse. There are other colonies of cormorants, both imperial and rock cormorants.
Throughout the journey, the guide tells us a bit about local history and also about the animals and islands we see.
We return along the Argentine coast, sighting Playa Larga and the port.
