Itinerary
Set aside a day to explore Tierra del Fuego National Park with its stunning landscapes and discover some peculiarities of the city’s history during the Tren del Fin del Mundo tour.
After a delicious lunch, continue enjoying the various attractions of this itinerary, such as the beautiful Playa Larga and the famous Glaciar Martial, with its breathtaking views of Ushuaia and the Beagle Channel.
We’ll depart from the hotel towards Tierra del Fuego National Park, the southernmost park on the planet and the only one in Argentina that combines mountains, lakes, and sea.
An experienced guide will lead the tour, providing details and stories about the places visited.
The first stop is just before the park entrance, at the Fin del Mundo station. Here, those interested in taking the train ride can purchase tickets. On board the train, besides enjoying the scenery, you will learn about the history of this railway that transported prisoners from Ushuaia’s prison to the slopes of Mount Susana. The train ride lasts approximately 1 hour.
For those who prefer not to take the train ride, you can enjoy this time at the charming station and listen to the railway’s history told by our guide.
After the train ride, we regroup and head to our next stop: the End of the World Post Office. Here, you can stamp your passport with the “End of the World” mark and even send a postcard to friends and family (the post office is open only in summer).
We then proceed to Lake Roca, near the Chilean border. There, we will take a short hike to learn more about the vegetation and fauna of Tierra del Fuego.
A few more kilometers and we arrive at the Alakush Visitor Center, home to the museum of the island’s ancient indigenous people, as well as a great snack bar. From this point, we can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of Cerro Condor and the Lapataia River.
We continue our journey towards the stunning Bahía Lapataia, where we can see a section of the Beagle Channel and beautiful Magellanic forests. This is where Route 3 ends, the road that reaches the southernmost point of the planet. A great place to consider “The End of the World”!
Having gained a good insight into Tierra del Fuego, we leave the park and head to the city of Ushuaia, where we have lunch at an excellent restaurant (Brix Bar).
After lunch, we continue our tour towards the beautiful Playa Larga.
This is the only excursion that takes tourists to the most beautiful beach in the region! From there, we continue to the imposing Glaciar Martial, where we embark on a mini-trekking, of low to medium difficulty, to the base of the glacier. It’s a special moment that offers us a unique quality of silence to contemplate an incredible landscape, being at an altitude of about 1,000 meters.
For those who do not wish to participate in this mini-trekking, you can use the time to admire and photograph the beautiful view of the city and the Beagle Channel, as well as visit the cozy Tea House, a famous attraction in the area.
We return to the hotel with many images from this delightful experience!
