Itinerary
An excellent experience for those who want to make the most of their day and go beyond the excursion of Tierra del Fuego National Park.
You’ll also explore Glaciar Martial and its beautiful landscapes, have an optional alpine skiing or snowboarding lesson that will result in incredible photos, enjoy a delicious included lunch, and receive a welcome hot chocolate at Glaciar Martial. Sounds like a lot? We’ve created this excursion for the most demanding adventurers who like to make the most of their time!
We’ll pick up the “adventurers” from their accommodations and head towards Tierra del Fuego National Park, the southernmost park on the planet and the only one in Argentina that combines mountains, lakes, and sea. It’s a stunning landscape with rich flora and fauna, all set against a backdrop of snow, mountains, lakes, and the sea with breathtaking views.
An experienced guide will accompany the entire tour, providing details and stories about the places visited.
The first stop is just before the park entrance, at the Fin del Mundo train station, the southernmost or southernmost train station on the planet. Here, those interested in taking the optional train ride can purchase tickets in advance to avoid disappointment upon arrival and finding the train fully booked, as tickets are limited.
On board the train, besides enjoying the scenery, you will learn about the history of this railway that transported prisoners from Ushuaia’s prison to the slopes of Mount Susana nearly 100 years ago. Through headphones, while enjoying beautiful landscapes, you can listen to fascinating stories about Ushuaia, the train, and much more. There are various languages available for listening, including Portuguese. Halfway through the journey, there’s a stop at Macarena station. Getting off the train, climbing a staircase, and enjoying the view from above is something very special and well worth it! The train ride lasts approximately 1 hour and ends at a station inside the national park, where transportation with the guide will be waiting to continue the tour in the national park.
Those who prefer not to take the train ride will still enjoy this one-hour stop. You can enjoy this time to explore the charming station, with its workshop in full view, cafeteria, and a shop with many souvenirs, and begin to listen to the stories told by our guide.
We then head to Bahía Lapataia, where we can see a section of the Beagle Channel with beautiful landscapes, as well as beautiful Patagonian forests. This place marks the end of Route 3, the road that reaches the southernmost point of the planet. Therefore, it’s a great place to be considered “The End of the World”! At this “end of the world,” there’s a famous sign to take a photo for prosperity, and a beautiful walk to appreciate the lush nature, which is very abundant in this area. It’s so beautiful that the indigenous ancestors “LOS YAMANAS” chose this place to have their dwellings, and there are records and excavations that show this. It’s very interesting to hear the guide’s stories about this.
We then continue to Lake Roca, near the Chilean border. Here, we will take a short trail to learn more about the fauna and flora of Tierra del Fuego. At this lake, we’ll have a beautiful view of the lake, snow-capped mountains in the background, and beautiful vegetation, with lovely trees on the sides. It’s really beautiful!
Before returning, we also visit the Alakush Visitor Center, where the museum of the island’s ancient indigenous people, the Yámanas, is located. From this point, we can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of Cerro Condor and the Lapataia River. Those who wish can enjoy a delicious hot chocolate, have a snack, or eat a delicious pie (items not included in the excursion).
Having gained a good insight into Tierra del Fuego National Park, we head towards the city of Ushuaia, where we have lunch at a great restaurant, with a choice of menus and included drinks (beer, water, flavored water, or soda), followed by coffee.
After lunch, we head to the Winter Center of the famous Glaciar Martial. At this point, most of those on the excursion take the opportunity to have a beginner’s alpine skiing or snowboarding lesson (optional).
It’s a unique experience and truly worth it because coming to Ushuaia and not having this experience is not the same. Imagine yourself dressed as a skier, having a one-hour lesson with a professional skiing or snowboarding instructor, having fun, and taking wonderful photos? Any falls are just part of the fun, but falling in the fluffy snow is actually quite enjoyable, and filming it is something you’ll never forget.
For those not interested in the skiing or snowboarding lesson, you can relax and enjoy the wonderful view of the Beagle Channel and the city, as well as visit the famous and cozy Tea House and the mountain refuge, which will welcome you with a delicious hot chocolate or coffee upon arrival. You can also take a short walk and perhaps attempt to climb the Glaciar Martial trail, just be careful not to get lost and end up staying there overnight; the cold is quite intense for spending a night on the glacier!
One thing is certain, being able to visit the southernmost park in the world, explore the base of Glaciar Martial, and even have an alpine skiing or snowboarding lesson is making the most of your time with unforgettable activities for those visiting Ushuaia in winter. So, seize the opportunity and secure your spot on this full day of activities now, as spots are limited. Give yourself this gift and have a beautiful and unforgettable day on the Mega Tour.
At the end of the day, we’ll return to the city in the late afternoon and drop each of our clients at their respective accommodations, knowing that we’ve been part of one of the most “surreal” days of their lives.
Note: The train ride and the Skiing/Snowboarding Lesson are NOT included in the price paid for this tour. If you’re interested in the Skiing/Snowboarding Lesson at Glaciar Martial, there’s ANOTHER description that already includes it.
