Itinerary
Our boat will depart from the Port of Punta Bandera and will immediately enter the Canal de Los Tempanos of Lake Argentino. The first stop (without disembarking) will be in front of “Punta Bandera”, a historic site where Francisco Pascasio Moreno baptized Lake Argentino (February 15, 1877). A mast marks this important place in Argentine history. The boat guide will provide an explanation about this. Continuing the navigation, we will enter the Seno Mayo of Lake Argentino.
1st Landing (Bahía Toro)
We will disembark at Bahía Toro and, accompanied by the boat guide, we will take an interpretive walk through the Patagonian Andean forest until we reach the waterfall. From the lake shore, we will be able to observe the hanging glaciers of Cerro Mayo and Cerro Negro. We will return to the boat and, in just another 15 minutes of navigation, we will reach our next stop.
2nd Landing (Cerro Negro)
We will disembark at Cerro Negro and, along with the boat guide, we will start a hike to enter the Patagonian Andean forest. We will follow along a river that will take us to Cerro Negro itself. We will arrive a few meters from the base of the mentioned hill and from there we can contemplate the wonderful Black Glacier. This is a “hanging” glacier (it hangs on the mountain), from which a large number of waterfalls originate, forming the river that we have been following along our tour. We will spend some time in this place, observing the incredible surrounding landscape. Later, we will return to the boat that will take us to our next destination.
3rd Landing (Perito Moreno Glacier)
Returning to navigation, we will leave the Seno Mayo of Lake Argentino to navigate again through the Canal de los Témpanos. During this part of the tour, we take the opportunity to have lunch on board (bring food). In a few minutes, we will start to see (at the end of the Canal) the north wall of the Perito Moreno Glacier. Upon arrival, we will take a slow navigation in front of the mentioned wall.
Then, we disembark at Puerto Moreno to go (accompanied by the boat guide) to the walkways, located in front of the Perito Moreno Glacier. There we will have free time to walk and observe the glacier from different viewpoints. At the time established by the guide, we will return to Puerto Moreno to board and return to our last stop, the Port of Punta Bandera.
