A spectacular way to explore the Patagonian landscapes around El Calafate is by taking this tour to Cerro Frias.

This is a stunning tour for observing the geography, local fauna, and flora, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the beautiful Lake Argentino, Avellaneda Peninsula, FitzRoy, and Torres del Paine (Chile).

Truly a tour to take and return with the most beautiful views of El Calafate.

We depart from the hotel in El Calafate heading to the east side of the city, starting our journey towards Cerro Frias.

Our first stop is at the main viewpoint overlooking the beautiful and famous Lake Argentino, the largest and southernmost Patagonian lake with a stunning blue color.

We continue until we reach the Devil’s Mouth, where the lake narrows and continues until it meets the Upsala Glacier. We also see the Avellaneda Peninsula.

Reaching the summit at 1,030m altitude, we enjoy the wonderful view of FitzRoy, located in El Chaltén, and also the Torres del Paine, located in Chile. A truly breathtaking sight!

With this wide view of the region from the various viewpoints along the way, the guide takes the opportunity to give us an introduction to the local geography, allowing us to see the boundaries of the National Park and historical points in the region.

In addition to the photogenic landscape, we may spot various animals common in Patagonia such as guanacos, foxes, condors, and hares.

It’s worth noting that the route is surrounded by the Patagonian steppe, a unique and typical landscape of the region.

As we begin to descend, we are already on the south side, where the Campo Restaurant is located, offering a beautiful view of the Centinela Valley, the waters of Braço Rico, and Torres del Paine (Chile). We stop here for a delicious meal: in the morning, we offer lentil stew with brownies, in the afternoon fried cake with assorted sweets and coffee service, and in the evening empanadas for starters, lentil stew for the main course, and brownie for dessert.

After enjoying these moments, we head back to the hotel, passing through the other side of Cerro and taking in the landscape from new angles to conclude the tour.
